Black hair salons aren’t easy to come by in Iowa. With her shop, Adeya Renea Hair and Beauty Bar, Adeya Crockett is making professional hair care accessible to Black men and women in Des Moines and surrounding cities.
“Look good, feel good”
Staying in the Des Moines Metro Area was important to Crockett. She saw it as an opportunity to educate young Black girls on how to take care of their hair.
Knowledge is Power
Crockett is now looking to expand her business and make it a household name. She says the Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families and Des Moines Area Community College are giving her the knowledge and tools to do that.
